Barbara Cronin Hershberg

Barbara is drawn to simple compositions, textures, handmade paper, found objects, and a limited color palette. Using Asian influences, she creates assemblages, collages, mixed media, and acrylic paintings. She has studied dance for many years, most lately tap dancing, so movement comes naturally to her pieces. When mixing colors, she is joyful when the adjectives “dreamy” and “delicious” come to mind. Luscious sunsets, the colors of a house in the Caribbean, golden butterscotch, the perfect red of a pepper, and the green of an olive may appear in her paintings. She would like the viewer to be content, without needing to find a clear image in the piece.

Including the Abstract Art Collective, Barbara is a member of several arts organizations: Santa Barbara Art Association, Goleta Valley Art Association, and Santa Barbara Visual Arts, and has received many awards for her art.
